I really enjoyed the life coaching, reading, self-development, morning routines, working on relationships. Benchmarking is of huge benefit, good to see other businesses, something to strive for. Excellent for networking and coming across more professionals. Good to get away for few days and look back into our lives, reset. Have appreciated the technical information and the decision aid models.

We have been able to focus on how we do it, not what we do. We have spent a lot more time thinking about structure of management and roles and accountability. We have now got 2 years of benchmark data. Extremely high quality and relevance of Greg’s presentations and answers to questions on the technical side of farming- everyone needs some of this still!

It has made us focus on our 10-year plan and set a clear direction. Our goal setting is more structured and we are being held accountable for achieving these goals. The 4 workshops give us an opportunity to step back from the business and really focus on strategic planning. We are very focussed on maintaining a positive mind-set. I am really enjoying the sense of achievement that comes from having a morning routine. We have made some great friends and thoroughly enjoy the networking opportunities.

SPECIFICALLY, HOW HAVE YOU IMPROVED YOUR BUSINESS?

Started Management Meetings. Got a greater understanding on our business performance & financial position.

Better communication. Role identification and allocation for those involved in the business. Setclear goals, both personally - and for the business. Better habits and routines. Started a smaller nucleus flock to breed our own rams and elite ewes via A.I. Made use of ASBV's and Merino Select to help set long-term breeding objectives that will make the business more money e.g. improve CFW.

Our business has so much more 'flow' now which makes day to day a lot less stressful and more productive.

Benchmarking, budgeting, more professional in our operations (in my office anyway). Being open and honest about everything. There are no false pretences - I'm confident talking to people and finding out what works & what doesn't.

5-year plan, weekly meeting-communication. More refined goals.

Made us make decisions and put procedures in place to take action to achieve our goals faster.

Better - planning, meetings, goals, vision, how to get there, communication.

We have tweaked some technical issues. We have some more to tweak. We have appointed one CEO/Manager. People have roles. We have employed extra help to replace members scaling back. We have improved flock structure, a key issue, ID in benchmarking. i.e. run morewethers to cut more wool. We are addressing lack of profit and labour.

More efficient.

WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST LEARNINGS SINCE JOINING THE PROGRAM?

Our biggest learning is that there is a whole new world for people that practice 'personal growth'.

Once you identify what you want, write it down and it usually happens. Train before the job not on the job.

Need to think about how we run the business as well as the technical side. Fear can hold us back and we need to be careful not making as small decision as it is not worth the time and hassle of postponing these decisions.

People without true confidence don't respond well to feedback/ constructive criticism. Hire on talent not skills, skills can be developed. Some tasks that are common on farm can be systemised to reduce errors. You need to have a successful business before you expand.

Delegation - we have become more relaxed about how tasks are done and are trusting others to take more responsibility for tasks. Positive mind-set and visualising what we intend to achieve- we feel like we have always been reasonably positive about our business, and our lives, but the SOA has helped us to be more aware of this and to ensure it is a focus of our everyday life. We have become more conscious of how powerful it is, and we constantly talk about it.

MBA on steroids.

Challenging - but in a way, that promotes self-worth and growth. Stimulating and motivating. A conversation starter - Especially as a conduit to start the conversations that need to be had.

Succession planning, business direction.

Very powerful and life changing.

This group is about getting more out of you & your business. Making the most of what you have, measuring, goal setting, planning & getting more satisfaction.
